Week 18: Summer in NYC. After the Sun Goes Down.

There is always something to do in New York at any hour of the day. However, when museum doors close and shops start politely shooing everyone away, many people obligingly go to the nearest take away place, and go either home or back to their hotel, abandoning the exciting wonders of nighttime Manhattan. Wouldn't you want to have a proper night dance with the city?

I decided to give you a little 5-step guide of what to do this September after the sun's last ray disappears somewhere behind 14th Street.

1. It's SHOWTIME!

Let's start the evening at a Broadway musical. One of the newest, and already celebrated shows, is Cirque du Soleil PARAMOUR, a magical marriage of a classic musical and amazing Cirque du Soleil performances. Ben and I sawit a few weeks ago and thought that it was overall very aesthetically beautiful. To be honest, it is not the best musical we have ever seen, nor is it the best Cirque du Soleil show we have ever witnessed, but it is certainly a show worth seeing at least once!

BUY TICKETS

Alternatively, you still have time to book the last available tickets for one of the greatest musicals of all time, Les Miserables, which is having its last show on the 4th of September. Book your tickets here before they are gone.

2. Feed me!

Musicals and plays are rarely shorter than 120 minutes, so chances are you tried to fill yourself up with overpriced pretzels and jellybeans sold during intermission, but you are stillreally hungry. I suggest you have a late night dinner at the amazing Italian restaurant, Marea, which specializes in seafood and has two Michelin stars. Prices are actually quite reasonable for such a high-end, gorgeous restaurant, but book your table in advance!

BOOK A TABLE

3. Midnight in New York

Nothing is more romantic and surreal than midnight at the top of the Empire State Building. My husband took me there on our third date and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Usually crowded, the Empire State Building is quite empty at that late hour, so don't miss your chance to admire a bird's eye view of Manhattan by night.

BOOK THE EXPERIENCE

4. Party like a VIP

If you want to party in the top rated nightclubs in New York, sit at VIP tables and have access to exclusive events, contact Blue Circle NY. Just call and tell them whatever your energetic heart desires (from bottle service to partying with celebrities). No need forstanding in that line to Marquee anymore and loosing precious time!

5. Drunk cravings or Feed me part 2.

Your night was crazy and fun, but suddenly you realise that your alcohol infused body desperately wants some delicious food. The majority of cafés and restaurants are closed and you promised to yourself to not eat at McDonalds anymore. Luckily, New York has a few great 24/7 places. I recommend Katz’s Delicatessen (205 E Houston St) or Ukrainian eatery, Veselka (144 2nd Ave).

Week 18: Summer in NYC. Cute SheIn Top

I am sharing more casual looks with you this week. I noticed lately that I have traded my ultra short, revealing denim shorts for more classy looking shorts. Am I getting older and wiser… or what's happening? :)

In today's look I have paired my Walter Baker black shorts with a very cute and original top from Shein. I love how affordable everything is at Sheinand that the quality is often really really good. At the end of this post I will also link to a few other cute tops that will make any simple "wear it with jeans/shorts" outfit look very original and stylish.

I am also sporting a new Walter Baker bag for the first time. The bag is from the designer's upcoming collection and it comes in many different colours.

Week 18: Summer in NYC. SHOP

I want to be a part of it, New York, New York

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you my curated selection of New York inspired fashion items and gifts!

Week 18: Summer in NYC. NYC Shopping Guide + Rosegal Look

When I came to NYC for the first time I was amazed by how different the shopping experience is from the experience in London and Paris. Manhattan has one of the biggest flagship stores in the world (including a massive H&M), an exhilarating amount of department stores (who knew there could be so many in one city), and a really impressive range of designers and products. From the small independent boutiques offering a limited edition of 20s style pieces or even Medieval inspired clothing, to luxury evening gowns by famous Israeli designers, you can find practically anything in this city.

Today I am sharing some of my favorite places to shop in New York along with my look created in collaboration with Rosegal. Rosegal is an online store that offers a wide range of clothing and accessories for very affordable prices. They ship fast and so far everything fits me perfectly (I usually order a size XS or S, whichever is the smallest size in that style).

NYC SHOPPING GUIDE:

In New York you can easily shop all over Manhattan, however I recommend you start in Soho (Spring or Bleecker St stations get you closest to the shops). 5th Avenue may be the most famous street for shopping, as depicted in films and TV shows, but it is more for luxury boutique hopping because and it has much less diversity in brands.

CLUB MONACO

One shop where I ALWAYS find something I absolutely love is Club Monaco. The brand is surprisingly not as well known in Europe, and prior to moving to the US, I had never even heard of it. I usually shop at the 536 Broadway location, but check here for their other stores' addresses.

What will you find in Club Monaco? Stylish minimalistic fashion made from high quality fabrics, items in delicious pastel palettes, and LOTS of whites.

Price range? $150-$300, but totally worth it!

Mystique Boutique

Mystique Boutique is one of these no-brand-stores that you may be a little embarrassed to shop at, but when you do, you end up leaving with quite a few cool items. I bought this grey bodysuit and pants in Mystique last January and was wearing it around the apartment.

I shop at 454 Broadway, but they have other locations. Here is the full list.

What will you find in Mystique Boutique? All the trendy, sexy clothes that insta-girls wear.

Price Range? Extremely cheap! $5-$30.

& Other Stories

Beautiful store located at 575 Broadway sells a wide range of fashion and beauty items designed in Paris and Stockholm. &Other Stories is a brand under the H&M group, but their collections are much more sophisticated.

What will you find in Other StoriesOriginal designer clothes and beautiful, stylish dresses of great quality, amazing jewellery and accessories.

Price Range? Very reasonable for the quality and design: $50-$150

Armani Exchange, Steve Madden, Brandy Melville, Zara

Armani Exchange (568 Broadway) is great for quickly finding a simple yet great-looking t-shirt or a classy, high quality dress for an affordable price. Steve Madden (540 Broadway) is my go-to place for any kind of shoes (amazing designs and love the price point). And I only discovered Brandy Melville (499 Broadway) a few days ago, but I already love their range of cool crop tops, sexy open back rompers and other fashion items for young women. And of course Zara. Well, do I have to explain why I love Zara?! The biggest Zara is located at 666 5th Ave, but I like the one on 503 Broadway.

Price Range? All four stores have a similar price range of $30-$100 on average.

REFORMATION

Eco-friendly brand that makes gorgeous, trendy clothes that don't kill the environment. Located at 23 Howard St.

Price Range? A little bit on the expensive side, but thinking about how you are kind of saving our planet while shopping is soothing ;)

ABC Carpet & Home

888 Broadway

One of the best and most lavishly decorated stores I have ever been in! You can not only find amazing furniture and decor items, but you can also shop for artisan clothes, jewellery and books. Also check out ABC’s restaurants - ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina.

There are many department stores in Manhattan, including my favourite, BarneysMacy's and Saks Fifth Avenue, however I try to avoid being inside these stores for too long in the summer. But in winter time, they are my saviors!

On 5th Avenue definitely pay a visit to the iconic Tiffany & Co

5th Avenue also hosts the biggest H&M store in the world (589 5th Ave).

FOR BOOK LOVERS

New York has so many great bookstores, big and small, general and niche, that I could dedicate a whole post to them. My favorite is the gorgeous and sophisticated Rizolli (1133 Broadway at 26th St), and the famous Strand, which is perfect for those who love getting lost in a sea of books.

THE HAT SHOP

120 Thompson St

Custom hat shop with a retro vibe selling an array of beautiful hats. They also take custom orders!

Make Up Your Mind

Sephora is a paradise for beauty product lovers and they are located all over Manhattan, but I also love to visit the Tony Moly shop in Koreatown (35 W 32nd St) for moisturisers and masks in fun packages.

What about men?

RRL is one of the best men's store I have ever seen. Ben buys most of his clothes at Double RL to both my greatest pleasure (real gentlemen's clothing with a bit of a retro vibe. Yum!) and horror (everything is quite expensive). Go there for classic double breasted jackets, 20s style suits or American Old West inspired pieces.

Of course there are so many more places I could talk about and probably will in one of my future posts, however today I have tried to cover my main shopping destinations in Manhattan. What's your favorite store in NYC? And let me know if you have any questions. Please ask them via our Facebook page

Week 18: Summer in NYC. Wearing 'Rosegal' in Bryant Park.

It's the last two weeks of August and I’ve decided to have a 'Summer in NYC'  theme on the blog. I usually have pretty specific themes on Pastiche.Today, inspired by iconic films or glamorous actresses, but this week I am going to share my more casual everyday looks, write about my life in The Big Apple (including what it is like to live in hotels full time!), and share tips on what to see and what to do in one of the greatest cities in the world.

Everyone knows how gorgeous Central Park is, but there are over 1,700 parks and playgrounds across the five boroughs of New York City. One of my favourites to visit is Bryant Park. The park itself is not big, but it has a lot to offer: free yoga classes, jazz concerts, poetry readings and much more. I especially love that you can play board games for absolutely FREE in the park. Ben and I played the Game of Life last time we were there. Yes, the board games are often not in the best condition, but it is still amazing that you can come and have a great time playing with your friends.

I wore this pretty Rosegal off-the-shoulder top with white J.Crew shorts to the park to meet up with my friend Agnes, who also took these photos of me (thank you, girl!). This is my first package from Rosegal, but I am pleasantly surprised by how good quality the clothes are, considering they are AMAZINGLY affordable.

There is the gorgeous Bryant Park Cafe and Grill in the park, but my friend Agnes and I decided to try the celebrated Mille Crêpes at Lady M. The cafe is very minimal in decor, but has an decadent dessert menu. We ordered the Green Tea Mille Crêpes and Coconut Mille Crêpes. To be honest, I think the idea of the crêpes-cake sounds much more delicious than it actually tastes. We both felt that the cakes were too sweet, and even though I loved the first few bites of my cake, I couldn't even finish half of it!

I think I might have to return to the Lady M soon to try their other desserts because they all looked so mouthwatering.

check back all week to see my other casual summer outfits and read about my personal NYC experiences!
